You will be notified when we add paid options to Subly and you can decide which one is the most suitable for you and your business.
What types of video file does Subly support?
We support a good range of video files: .mp4, .mov, .avi, .MPG, .WEBM and .MKV. If you have a video in a different format you can use a free 3rd party video conversion tool. Here is one we have tried.
How do I download my video from Subly?
Once you have finished editing your subtitles in the editor, you can click the 'Add Subtitles to Video' button to initiate the process of adding/burning subtitles to your video. Once this process has finished, click the 'Download' button and select 'Video with Subtitles' to download your video to share with the world. Or you can just download your transcription text if you select "Subtitles in .SRT File".
Can Subly support languages other than English?
Subly supports transcription for videos spoken with various of languages and dialects.

Don’t worry. Unfortunately, our authentication email could sometimes go to the spam folder. We would suggest you check there first. If you still can’t locate the email or you haven’t received the email at all, please send us an email at email@example.com and one of our super star team members will get in touch.
How are my videos saved? Are they protected against leaks and hacking?
All our content and the user content (videos and their details) are saved on Amazon S3. Amazon is one of the most secure (if not THE most secure) services in the world and they maintain a very high level of security standards. When we develop our product we make sure to keep those high standards. We are constantly optimising and improving where needed and working with Amazon very closely to ensure there is no compromisation.
You will be the only person to access your videos unless you share your user account details. Our team will have access to user accounts and content for the sole purpose of developing new features or helping you with any issues. Our team is under our company contract to keep data and content private.
What is the accuracy of Subly's transcription service?
We are using AI for the transcription so that we can quickly generate the subtitles for our users.
The technology we are using is not part of the open-source libraries, but it is from one of the trusted industry leaders in the field of Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR). In terms of accuracy, the figure is measured using Word Error Rate (WER), a common accuracy term used in the ASR field. According to a third-party company, the WER for the service we have chosen is around 20% to 25%. Within the same research, the WER for Watson and Speechmatics is 29% and 23% respectively.
How do I remove the Subly watermark?
We've now enabled the ‘Subly’ watermark feature, and we need your help to tell the world about Subly so others can add subtitles easily to their content too. You can of course disable this feature in the ‘Style editor’, but we really hope you’ll keep it and help us!
How secure is my video and audio file uploaded to Subly?
Security is something that we take seriously at Subly, from both a client and infrastructure. Subly is built on top of AWS (Amazon Web Services) which means we have a mutual responsibility with AWS when it comes to our security and our clients. All files uploaded to Subly are encrypted and not accessible to the public. We will always endeavor to have the best security practices as we have not only content creators but Internal Communications teams and users who have highly confidential information. We pride ourselves on this.
We use AWS user management service to manage our users and their attributes. It is handled with secure access. However, should a user need our support with editing a video, the user can request our support to help and we can assist them.
